An Auto electrician in Katherine
Terry Avenell from Terry’s Mobile Auto Electrical & Auto Air Conditioning in Katherine is very much the proud Territorian, but that wasn’t always the case.
Terry was born in Longreach, grew up in Bundaberg and began his working life as a shunter in Queensland Rail’s shunting yards in Townsville where he ended up as a foreman. He married Rosita, a former Katherine girl and they both decided to call Katherine home in the late 1980’s after a trip to Katherine to visit both their mothers.
His work in Katherine focussed a lot around spare parts for motor vehicles, particularly trucks and tractors, with BC Machinery and then Hobbit Auto Electrics. It was at Hobbit, at the age of 47, fuelled by a passion for working on cars and a sound knowledge of spare parts, that Terry started an apprenticeship as an auto electrician in Katherine. He successfully completed his apprenticeship, coming out as an auto electrician, certified in auto air conditioning.
Servicing auto electrical and air conditioning needs in Katherine and beyond
Today, with the help of his wife Rosita, Terry runs his own business and thrives on the constant challenges that the auto electrical and auto air conditioning service industry provides, particularly in a place like Katherine with its remoteness and area coverage.
According to Terry, one of the key areas of challenge is in diagnostics. Auto electrical diagnostics can be tricky enough without remote work, where many questions need to be asked and educated guesses made, before you even get to see the vehicle.
This is where experience, up to date knowledge and a unique flair for auto electrics and auto air conditioning really count. This, as well as a very friendly, people oriented approach is what is helping to build Terry’s reputation as the go to person for all things auto electrical and auto aircon in Katherine. Even though, in most cases, he comes to you!
